Linda's review
When Ani entered the stage everyone went wild, everyone being 50 percent Americans who toured with Ani, you know where Ani goes they go and the other half was Dutch. Ani seemed to enjoy it, did a lot of talking at first about our canals, the coffeeshops, young couples kissing and stumbling out of bars at 4 in the morning and about her getting old. She also asked the crowd if they shouted something they'd better do it in English coz this foreign language shit scared her. That was really funny. But later on she got rather annoyed I guess. You see there was a part of the crowd that just wouldn't shut up they kept talking during her performance, which was I must admit very irritating. But I gotta say it was to be expected. Ani isn't that well known in Holland and tickets were cheap so there were quite some people there who probably knew one or two songs and figured you know why the hell not. She kept saying "thank you for listening so graciously". NOT, how sarcastic can you get, eh. But inspite of that she still managed to give a great show with two encores including 'Joyful Girl' a song about her mother she said. Everyone loved the show, including the talkers... I can only hope this little incident won't keep her from coming back here! Coz it's gonna cost me if I gotta keep buying plane tickets to London (as I did this year) but then again I wouldn't mind coz I just can't get enough of Ani Live, there's nothing else like it.
