Ani's second show in Seattle (7/10/98) was one of the most thrilling
shows I have seen so far on this tour. Everyone was in high spirits
that day and was having a great time. I was really surprised when Ani
played "32 Flavors". A fan had requested it the night before. She has
really revamped the sound of it. The whole set that night was fast
music, hardly any slow songs.
The audience was really good that night. It wasn't as crowded as some
of the other shows, so alot more people were dancing. One audience
member gave Ani a pot plant, not realizing they were going to have to
cross customs in a few hours.
There was 2 highlights that day. The first was during soundcheck.
They play alot of songs that don't end up in the show. Today's was
"Buildings and Bridges", "Fire Door", "Virtue"(which has mysteriously
dissapeared from her set list), and the full instrumental of "Pulse"!
Most people were standing on the walls to watch.
The other highlight was the encore. Ani and Jason played "Everest"
before they left the stage. The audience wanted more but after 5
minutes the equipment was starting to be taken away. I guess Ani had a
change of heart, she walked out and started playing the anthem "Both
Hands". She didn't even have a light on her, Stephanie (the stagehand)
had to shine a flashlight on her. It was incredible, the best
sing-along I ever attended.
