Msj4potato's review

It was my first concert, though I am a devoted fan to her old stuff as well (as opposed to, what? there's more than little plastic castle?). Anyway, ani was back in her hometown, and the crowd loved it. She was preforming in lewiston, about 45 minuted north of the city, and joked, "I've got this feeling you guys don't all live way up here...", and made other jokes about Artpark, and the life skills she was taught there: baking, ceramics, glassblowing...the opener was this great brass ensamble, but i can't remember the name. Once ani came, everyone went absolutely crazy. The lyrics were chanted throughout Little Plastic Castle, and the crowd roared. A hilarious point occured when she acknowledged the 'lesbian wrestling federation" in the crowds. She asked the crowd to keep quiet during My Country Tis Of Thee, and her request was granted, for the most part...when it was over, however, the crowd cheered louder that ever. during Swan Dive, she (whoops) sang "I hold the hardest, warmest part of you...", then realized her mistake. When she launched into Shy and then Cradle And All, the cheers were explosive, especially in the verses "I live in New York New York/ city that never shuts up....moved there from Buffalo/ trico plant moved to Mexico..." she laughed, and then played a wild version of Shameless, which grew in intensity throughout. After that, the crowds proceeded to bang on their seats, which produced ani for an encore of Gravel, with a keyboard opener. The second encore produced a surprise rendition of Not So Soft, which loyal fans enjoyed the most. She joked, "okay...setlist change!" Even though it was my first concert, I thought it was an incredible show.
