ani was great and funny and cute as usual but the
crowd was not as respectful. at seattle when she started spouting poetry
the entire crowd was mesmerized. here people were yelling shit and it
was really hard to hear her.
on a side note, a woman sitting a few feet in front of me got busted by security
for not having her shirt on. after a few minutes a state trooper came back
and let her know that she could have her shirt off and only had to put it
on if it was offensive to other people i.e. if someone complained. no
one was complaining.
the weather was beautiful and it was great to be outside in the fresh air
instead of inside the dungeonous (is that a word?) roseland theater. all in
all it was a good night. but i really wish she would have played a little
longer and that the crowd was a little quieter...

preface to story #1: There was an angry pitbull loose in the parking lot
right before Ani took the stage.
Story #1: When Animals Attack II. This had my rolling on the floor,
she told us that someone on her bus taped this show once, and that they would watch it alot,
and when they were in the hotel a few nights ago, it was on TV and they all called
each other about it. Channel 13 quick! Aniways, A hunter sprayed himself down with
deer musk thinking it would be pretty funny to attract a horny buck (all while his
wife was filming it) and instead of attracting one that wanted to make 'buck love'
it wanted to box and started beating the snot out of him. LOL.
Story #2: Stolen Heels near Portland. She starts off saying that she never
actually plays Portland, always someplace really close by, but never Portland.
When someone pointed out that she played Portland the last time she was here,
she agreed, and poking fun at the person who stole the heel of her right boot
at the Roseland show. Hehe.
Story #3: Europe Sucks. Playing all the festivals in Europe seems to have
taken a toll on Ani. She said all that's there is freezing rain and cheese. :)
Story #4: Hello Green. A spunky little girl on the last airplane Ani was on,
was walking down the aisle with her bad self, walks by Ani, and not missing a beat says,
'Hello Green. (due to Ani's current hair color). Now, Ani says she says that to herself
every morning in the bathroom.
Story #5: Talking about playing some venue and it was bug central, and that
folksinger school doesn't teach you what to do when you open your mouth and a fly flies in.
:P Yuck. Or about the rogue moth that attacks your bass player's glasses.
'I had to sing and I had my guitar, so I couldn't help him out.' :)
Story #6: The NAPG manifesto. Talks about her categorization by lesbians,
straight folk, the media, etc. The state of the world when it comes to pretty
people and not so pretty people. Also, about how, no matter who we are, we can
all teach each other something. Well very put.
Story #7: The end of the tour as we know it. Tells us a bit about the whole
tour coming to an end, and how she gets a week's vacation from the road before
she opens for the mighty mighty Bobby Dylan.
Story #8: The Animania tour. How that in 30 years from now that her new
bass player with be the only original band member on the tour and that he'll
still be the new guy. And that since Ani and Andy will be gone, they'll have
to have Cindy Crawford open for the tour because they always have the cuter
versions of people play the people on TV. :) Oh, and Ani said she'd be quite
well preserved and her mole would be the size of a basketball. ROFL.
