Wilson's review
This was my 16 year old daughter's first Ani show. The Carpenter Center
is a smaller venue for Ani these days, it has great accoustics as it is
usually used for Symphony performances. Danielle Howle opened with
virtually the same set she did the night before in Baltimore. She was
good but quickly became tiresome for the tour heads when she did and
said the same thing every night.
Ani opened with a solo rap/hip hop version of Outta Me, Onto You that
was killer. The audience seemed bewildered, they came to a folk show you
see, and everyone stood up looked like they wanted to mosh. They
remained standing through most of the show! Ani greeted the crowd's
cheers with a very brief, very funny Barbara Streisand impersonation. A
group of girls in the balcony screamed "Fuck you!" Ani turned her back
to the audience and then turned back and did Untouchable Face and
the audience was hers! I don't have a set list or a tape but it was a
great show. She introduced Jason as the "new guy" and for the encore she
and Andy traded instruments [ Ani played drums well] and she tried to
get him to sing but he wouldn't.
